We loved our stay at the hostel. All four of us said that we will go back and that we will stay their again. The family was so helpful with tips for traveling in their country(great places to go), teaching us about their country(they each are fountains of knowledge), and totally went out of your way to make sure your stay was comfortable. They spoke english very well and were super nice to be with. We all totally recommend it.

Kabata hostel was the central hub of the main part of our Costa Rica-holiday. From here we started our trip to the caribbean coast and our trip to Chirripo.

Maurice is a walking encyclopedia about Costa Rica with an answer to whatever question you have. Besides running the hostel he is a teaching member of the Red Cross rescue team, so he has done most nature trips you might imagine already by himself.

The service at the hostel is nice and ahead of time. It is one of the cleanest places we have been to in Costa Rica. We felt save and like being at home. We didn't even think of going to the "party mile" around the corner.

I just wanted to let you all know what a great time I had in Costa Rica and at the Kabata hostel. You all made my trip great and I very comfortable at the house. I feel that you all set a nice atmosphere and cool vibe that spread to all of your guests and this was also very nice.

Your knowledge of Costa Rica and the San Jose area, bus schedules and places to stay in Costa Rica made my travels more enjoyable. Since I did not have a definate travel plan while in your country, your help was much appreciated. I wish you luck and hope I will see you again in the future. Have a great travel season.

If you don't really know what you gonna do in Costa Rica, go directly to see Frederico and his mum as soon as you arrive there. They gonna devote all they heart to indicate you the good places to visit considering your expectations and your time available.

The building has character and the inside is really clean. You also gonna enjoy the home made Gallo Pinto for breakfast. I swear!

If you wanna go out, the main student nightlife strip is less than 5 minutes by feet from the hostel in a completely safe area (which is not the case everywhere in San Jose...)

San Jose is a compulsory path at the beginning and at the end of your trip, make it in a friendly and smiling atmosphere!

The location is good as it is near bars and restaurants but is safer than down town San Jose.

Out of 9 nights in Costa Rica, we stayed 3 at Kabata (1st, 3rd and 9th). Federico, Mauricio and Katia all went out of their way on seperate occasions to attend to our needs.

Mauricio not only helped us plan our trip through the country, he made contacts, called taxis and gave suggestions about how to best experience his country. His advice was right on!

When asked about a place to eat in San Jose one night, Federico not only made a suggestion but walked us to the restaurant. He, too, was a wealth of information about transportation and how best to accomplish our goals.

There is an Outlet Mall a block and a half away and a hugh disco (Planet Mall, I think) with in walking distance.

These people work very hard to please their customers and I'll return on my next visit. Highly recommend.

It is run by Costa Ricans and really feels more like staying with family. The facilities are very clean and secure. You can always get advise on where to eat, go out or how to get around the city in general.

You may even get a personal tour! You can also organize tours through out Costa Rica with them. We spent a day in Manzanillo (a beach on the Carribean Coast) which was really awesome. I highly reccommend Kabata!!! and I will definately be back! Oh yeah...they also offer pick-ups from the Airport which was very convienent.

I dont know if you remember me, but I was recently a guest at your hostel. One of you (Federico I believe)accompanied me to a Costa Rica v.s. Mexico futbol match...

Anyways, I am now in Canada. I wanted to thank you for all the help you people offered me when I was there. Your hostel is a great one, I hope it is doing well, and I will return next time I am in Costa Rica, most likely in February.
